Interview
1.What is your book about?
Charlie Higgins and the Mystery of Nightingale is about a boy called
Charlie who moves to a new area and whilst playing hide ‘n’ seek,
discovers a mysterious building. Like any other 11yr old he explores
the building with his friend Gabriel and what they discover takes
them on a journey of a lifetime.
2. What inspired you to write it?
I grew up in a household where reading was very much valued and so a
passion I had for reading then gradually turned into a passion for
writing, as I got older.
3. Have you written other books before this one?
No this is my first.
4. What made you want to be a writer?
Like all the other writers, I just wanted to share good stories that
had popped into my head with other people for them to enjoy.
5. What do you think is most interesting about your characters?
I would have to say it’s the way they all bond and respect each
other.
6. Why would people want to read this book?
The main reason is because it is really exciting and the whole
mystery in the story will attract the readers to finish, rather than
just read half of it.
7. When you write, do you base your characters on real people?
I definitely don’t because I feel that who ever you’re basing your
characters on, will eventually suss the idea that this character is
very similar to them; so not at all.
8. What do you find most difficult about writing?
I think the most difficult part of writing would have to be creating
a plot, increasing the tension and developing your characters with
the story.
9. What do you find most enjoyable?
The most enjoyable would be creating humour in a story and
excitement, to get the readers interested.
10. Do you think your book has a message? If so, what is it?
My book does have a very important message. It conveys the idea that
children are taken for granted and their intellectualities are
overlooked. In the book Charlie has the capability to go and save
his friend from evil, however his mother tells him to stay put and
doesn’t want to hear anything he’s got to say. This causes him to
sneak out of the house to follow his instinct.
